FanDuel has become the first sports betting operator to sign up for the “Have A Game Plan, Bet Responsibly” campaign.
The news was announced by the American Gaming Association (AGA), which founded the initiative.
FanDuel, owned by Flutter Entertainment, will include responsible gambling messages on various parts of its media inventory.
“We encourage other operators to join us”
‘Have A Game Plan, Bet Responsibly’ was launched towards the end of 2019. The initiative is designed to educate sports bettors throughout the US about the importance of betting responsibly.
Although FanDuel is the first sportsbook to commit to the campaign, other sporting bodies have also signed up. The Vegas Golden Knights, NHL, PGA Tour, NASCAR, and Monumental Sports and Entertainment are all campaign partners.
FanDuel’s responsible gambling media inventory commitment will translate to millions of dollars.
Included in the commitment are the operator’s league and team assets for its partnerships.
FanDuel Chief Executive Matt King said: “As the mobile gaming industry leader in the US, we believe promoting responsible gaming behaviors is a core tenet of growing our business and the industry as a whole.
“We are not only going to commit substantial FanDuel resources to promote ‘Have a Game Plan’, but we intend to build a consortium of partners throughout the sports and gaming business to scale this initiative and we encourage other operators to join us.”
How else will FanDuel contribute to the campaign?
Working within its team, league and media partnerships, FanDuel will also promote the campaign on TV in the US. The operator will also discuss responsible gambling on radio and digital outlets, as well as in sporting venues on game days.
FanDuel’s first set of responsible betting messages are expected to go live in May this year.
AGA Chief Executive Bill Miller also spoke about the sportsbook’s commitment to the initiative.
Miller said: “FanDuel’s commitment to support and grow ‘Have a Game Plan’ couldn’t come at a better time.
“Responsibility to our customers has always been a pillar of AGA member operations. Extending this to meet the new realities of an expanded sports betting ecosystem is going to require full collaboration with everyone involved in it – gaming operators, media companies and leagues and teams. We’re excited to have a partner like FanDuel to help extend this important initiative.”
