FanDuel inks streaming deal with Sportradar

FanDuel is set to become the first sports betting operator in the US to stream sports live on a betting app, thanks to a deal with Sportradar.

Under the deal, FanDuel players will be able to watch certain live sporting events with live odds available to them on the same screen.

This will make it easier for punters to bet on live sports as they won’t have to close their stream to place a bet.

Although live streaming and betting are common in mature sports betting markets such as Europe and the UK, this will be a first for the US sports betting market.

The deal

By using Sportradar’s Live Channel Online, FanDuel will begin streaming tennis games and European football matches.

FanDuel’s roster of sports could expand in the future if the operator manages to reach broadcast agreements with other sports leagues.

The deal itself is not exclusive, which means that other sports betting operators such as DraftKings would be able to partner with Sportradar for live streaming if they want to.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Niall Connell, General Manager, FanDuel Sportsbook said: “The ability to live stream professional sports inside our sports betting product will provide our customers with a first-class betting experience. By making Sportradar’s Live Channel Online available alongside our betting markets, FanDuel Sportsbook continues to be the premiere sports destination in the ever-growing sports betting industry.”

Neale Deeley, Vice President of US Sales and Gaming at Sportradar said: “We are really excited to bring live streaming to the US market with FanDuel.

“We have been longstanding partners of both FanDuel and parent company PaddyPower Betfair across a wide range of betting and fantasy services. We’re proud to be an ongoing part of their US expansion plans.”

Market leader in NJ

The fantasy sports provider turned sportsbook operator has cemented itself as one of the most popular sportsbooks in New Jersey.

Since the Garden State legalized sports betting it has become the nation’s second-largest market in terms of legal sports betting.

Figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement in recent months show that FanDuel is the market leader in terms of sports betting revenue.

By being the first operator to offer live streaming on its app, FanDuel will certainly set itself apart from the competition in New Jersey.
