FanDuel users will be able to live stream NHL games using the sports betting app.
The online sports betting giant FanDuel has announced that it will now offer live streams of NHL games through its mobile betting platform as part of an extension to an existing partnership with IMG Arena.
This news comes after IMG announced a streaming deal with the NHL that would allow IMG to provide US betting operators with live streams of a selection of NHL games.
Steaming NHL games on FanDuel’s app
FanDuel will stream up to two live streams of NHL games per day during the NHL season.
The games will be available to stream on the FanDuel Sportsbook app in states with legal sports betting for customers who have deposited funds into their sportsbook account or have wagered on an event.
According to the press statement, the NHL games will rotate each night and feature out of market teams and blackouts will apply to local teams and national broadcasts.
Niall Connell, GM and SVP, FanDuel Group said: “As we continue to innovate and expand nationwide, the ability to further enhance the live game and live betting experience is increasingly important to our customers. Our goal is to become a one-stop-shop for all sports and betting content, and live streaming professional sports like hockey is one of the many ways we are reaching that goal.”
FanDuel in the US
Since the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act in 2018, FanDuel has established itself as one of the biggest names in the US sports betting industry.
FanDuel’s sports betting app is currently available in several US states including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana and West Virginia. The sports betting brand also operates land-based sportsbooks in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Indiana and Iowa.
In April 2019, FanDuel became the first US sports betting app to permit live streaming of sports games after inking a deal with Sportradar. Last month, FanDuel announced a partnership with the new startup football league, the XFL.
