International Game Technology and William Hill have overhauled their online sports betting product in the state of Rhode Island.
International Game Technology (IGT) and William Hill have announced the release of enhanced versions of Rhode Island’s online sports betting platform, Sportsbook Rhode Island.
William Hill and IGT have made several changes to the mobile sports betting app and desktop site to help enhance the customer experience.
The new sportsbook
The overhauled Rhode Island sports betting platform includes a new app interface which is powered by IGT’s PlaySports technology. The new app includes an improved navigation design for live sports betting and a more efficient betting process that makes it quicker to select and place bets.
On top of the interface, the app includes an expanded wagering menu along with the option for customers to fund their accounts with debit cards. Prior to this, Rhode Islanders could only fund their online accounts using eChecks.
The platform now includes several new betting markets, along with a wider selection of futures and prop bet options. Due to the cancellation of the world’s most popular sporting events due to the coronavirus pandemic, William Hill has added several new sporting events to its Rhode Island platform.
Rhode Islanders will now be able to bet on several events such as Russian table tennis, Taiwanese basketball, as well as international soccer leagues.

Sports betting in Rhode Island
IGT and William Hill initially came together to power land-based sports betting at Rhode Island’s Twin River Casinos in Lincoln and Tiverton in November 2018.
Sports betting in Rhode Island was initially restricted to two land-based casinos, which was detrimental to the market. In August 2019, the Twin River branded mobile sports betting app went live in the state.
Now that the state has a mobile betting option, residents will be able to place bets using the mobile app, rather than travel across the state to visit one of the two land-based sportsbooks.
However, bettors that wish to wager on the mobile app must first visit a casino sportsbook to activate their mobile sports betting account. Once the account has been set up, they will be able to wager remotely from anywhere within the state.
