Figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) show that Nevada sports betting handle hit a record high of $581m in November.
Of the $581m wagered on sporting events sportsbooks in the state held on to over $27m. A slight decrease when compared with the $29.5m generated in revenue the month prior.
The sports betting handle recorded in November beats the previous record of $571m that was set in September 2018.
Looking at the bigger picture, Sports betting handle across the entire nation almost reached $1bn in November.
New Jersey saw over $330m bet on sports in November, while Mississippi reported $45m in wagers. On top of this Delaware reported $16m, West Virginia saw $12m and Pennsylvania took over $1.2m in sports bets in just two weeks.
When combining Nevada’s handle for November with all of the other states that offer legal sports betting, the nation has wagered over $985m on sports in November.
Digging deeper into Nevada’s numbers, over $374m was wagered on football with sportsbooks in the state holding on to over $18m. Football accounted for 63.3% of all sports wagers placed in November.
Basketball was the second most popular sport in November and accounted for 25.7% of wagers in November with over $152m being wagered on the sport. Out of this $152m, sportsbooks in the state held onto $11m.
Baseball accounted for 2% of sports wagers while parlay bets made up 1.9% of total bets. Other sports accounted for 7.1% of the bets placed.
