The US casino giant Penn National Gaming has opened its first land-based Barstool-branded sportsbook in the US.
US casino giant, Penn National Gaming (PNG), has opened its first land-based Barstool-branded sportsbook in the US.
The opening of the facility comes after the casino operator entered a sports betting and online casino partnership with Barstool Sports.
Penn National’s Barstool sportsbook
Penn National opened its Barstool-branded sportsbook on Thursday 5 November at the operator’s Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk in the state of Colorado.
The new sportsbook facility is located on the second floor of the casino and features sports betting kiosks and ticket writer stations along with a video wall and an odds board.
The opening of the venue comes after a period of testing which began in September. Penn National plans to open other Barstool-branded sportsbook facilities in other US states.
PNG president and chief executive Jay Snowden said: “This will be the first of many new retail locations for Barstool Sportsbooks at our casinos nationwide. Each will incorporate several features that reflect the spirit of the Barstool Sports brand, resulting in unique sports betting experiences that we expect our customers will thoroughly enjoy.”
Penn National and Barstool’s partnership
In January, Penn National entered a sports betting and online casino partnership with Barstool Sports, which saw the casino operator acquire a 36% stake in the sports media company.
Under the deal, PNG became Barstool Sports’ “exclusive gaming partner” for up to 40 years and has the sole right to use the digital sports media brand for all of its online and land-based sports betting and online casino products.
Penn National completed the acquisition in February under the agreement that Penn would increase its stake in Barstool to around 50% over the next three years.
