Another sportsbook is coming to New York this week.
On Tuesday, Resorts World Catskills in Monticello New York announced it will be opening its land-based sportsbook on Thursday.
Of the four upstate commercial casinos that were given the green light to launch sports betting, Resorts World will be the last one to open its sportsbook. The opening of the sportsbook comes just in time for the start of NFL season which kicks off this weekend.
The Resorts World sportsbook will operate under the Sportsbook 360 brand and will be powered by technology from International Game Technology (IGT) and Betgenius, a subsidiary of Genius Sports.
The sportsbook will be powered by IGT’s PlaySports platform while Betgenius’s trading console will be used to provide live sports data feeds and pricing.

What will the Resorts World sportsbook look like?
According to a press statement, the sportsbook lounge will be called Sportsbook 360 and will take up roughly 6,000 square feet on the casino floor.
The sportsbook lounge will feature more than 35, 75-inch flat-screen televisions, arranged in a 360-degree arc around the central bar along with a 9′ x 16′ high-definition screen. The lounge will also include more than 100 seats, cashier windows and self-serve betting kiosks.
The opening of the sportsbook will begin with an opening reception at 6:30 pm on Thursday followed by the ceremonial first bets at 7 pm. The first bets will be placed by Santana Moss, former New York Jets Wide Receiver, and Larry Johnson and John Starks, former New York Knicks players.
Sports betting in New York
Six years ago, the Empire State legalized land-based sports wagering through the 2013 New York Economic Gaming Act. The passage of this law allowed four upstate casinos in New York to offer sports betting if the federal law prohibiting the activity was amended or overturned.
New York officially launched legal and regulated sports betting in July, with the opening of the sportsbook at the Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady. A FanDuel branded sportsbook at Tioga Downs and the DraftKings Sportsbook at Del Lago opened shortly after sports betting in New York went live.
The opening of Sportsbook 360 at Resorts World will make it the fourth upstate commercial casino to offer legal sports betting.
As per state law, sports betting in New York is restricted to land-based betting at certain venues. Mobile sports betting, however, has yet to be legalized. New York lawmakers were unsuccessful in their attempts to legalize mobile betting in 2019.
