Scientific Games launches contactless gaming solutions

Scientific Games has launched several new contactless gambling solutions to help gambling venues around the world reopen safely.

Scientific Games has rolled out a range of new contactless gambling solutions with the aim of helping gambling venues reopen safely following the temporary shutdown of casinos due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This news comes as several casinos across the US have begun to reopen as lockdown restrictions across the country are eased. These casinos are required to have adequate health and safety measures in place that allow for social distancing.

The contactless solutions

Scientific Games said it can help with the process of reopening casinos by providing new tools such as the Unified Wallet, a cashless solution that allows players to instantly access funds from slot and table games via an app on their phone.

The supplier has also launched the Social Distancing Module. According to Scientific Games, the module provides three features for casinos which include Dynamic Distancing, EGM Scheduler and Resort and Game Reserve. Scientific Games said these features will help casinos adhere to new safety measures outlined by public health and gaming officials.

Dynamic Distancing will allow for social distancing amongst slot players, disabling all games within close proximity once a player uses their card to log into a slot game. The EGM Scheduler will allow the operator to display a list of games that can remain enabled on a casino floor.

The Resort Reserve and Game Reserve feature will allow customers to reserve their favourite game when visiting a casino.

Scientific Games’ executive vice president and gaming group chief executive, Matt Wilson, said: “Scientific Games has always been committed to innovation, but it is now more critical than ever to develop solutions that help our partners address and adapt to the new normal.

“Our suite of contactless gaming solutions enables our partners to deliver a new, yet fun and engaging gaming experience for their players all while keeping them safe. This advanced technology sets a new standard for the industry and is available for our partners now.”

Casinos begin to reopen

The roll-out of these solutions comes as Nevada’s governor, Steve Sisolak, set a target date of 4 June for the state’s casino to reopen.

In other states, casino and gambling facilities have begun the process of reopening following the temporary closures. Last week, Mississippi’s and Louisiana’s casinos allowed casinos to reopen as long as they meet requirements set by the state regulators.

Tribal gambling venues have also begun to reopen across the country in states such as Michigan, Idaho, Mississippi and Louisiana.
