Stats Perform secures rights to USL betting data

Stats perform has secured the rights to betting data from the United Soccer League.

The sports data and technology supplier, Stats Perform, announced that it has secured the rights to official betting data for the United Soccer League’s (USL) contests.

What’s covered in the deal?

The deal covers the USL’s two professional leagues, USL League One and the USL Championship. Under the deal, Stats Perform will supply the data to licensed sports betting and daily fantasy sports operators.

The deal also acts an extension to an existing partnership which saw Stats Perform act as the league’s official data distributor for media and broadcasters. Due to this, the data used for betting will be consistent with that available on other official channels.

Stats Perform will provide game, teams and player data for more than 1,000 USL matches per season. There will be an opportunity to add more USL competitions to the deal in the future.

USL senior vice president of digital and emerging technology Lizzie Seedhouse said: “The USL is excited to partner with Stats Perform as we continue to explore the landscape of sports betting. Though a seemingly ever-changing landscape, the USL’s priority remains quality and integrity of its data, two qualities that Stats Perform carries as a proven leader in this space.”

Stats Perform chief rights officer Alex Rice added: “Soccer is the undisputed biggest betting sport in the world, which means hundreds of licensed sportsbooks and millions of bettors trust us to power their entertainment by collecting data with the utmost professionalism and integrity.”

What has Stats Perform been up to?

This news comes after the daily fantasy provider turned multi-vertical gambling operator DraftKings extended its deal with the data provider for its daily fantasy sports and live fantasy offerings.

Under the deal, which began in 2012, DraftKings will use Stats Perform’s live data feeds for US major leagues such as the NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, FIBA, CFL as well as college football, men’s college basketball and several popular soccer leagues.

Last month, the data provider also announced an exclusive rights deal with Football DataCo to collect and distribute sports data for all major English and Scottish football leagues.

Under the agreement, Stats Perform will be able to provide the data to media, fantasy, and broadcast teams around the world.
