The New Orleans Saints and Pelicans name Harrah’s New Orleans as an official casino partner

This morning the NFL’s New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans announced that Harrah’s New Orleans will become an official casino partner of both teams.

The multi-year partnership will begin in 2019 and bring together the three New Orleans entertainment brands.

According to a press statement, this “partnership includes unique opportunities for Harrah’s to bring the Saints and Pelicans experiences to life.”

As part of the partnership, Harrah’s will develop “customized experiences,” in-game features and a Saints branded area in the casino.

New Orleans Saints and Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha said: “We are proud to align ourselves with a brand such as Harrah’s New Orleans Casino that is an industry leader not only nationally but on a local level as well.”

Caesars Entertainment, the parent company of Harrah’s New Orleans has already entered partnerships with other sports teams across the US.

Michael Marino, Chief Experience Officer at Caesars Entertainment said: “This announcement, along with our previous announced partnerships with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Baltimore Ravens, the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA and the New Jersey Devils of the NHL, demonstrates Caesars’ strong commitment to the professional sports fan experience.

“New Orleans has a rich heritage in sports, and we are excited to further enhance the game day experience. We look forward to many exciting seasons.”

This is the latest in a long line of partnerships between Caesars and professional sports teams.

Although this partnership does not mention any details relating to sports betting it is likely that it will help lay the groundwork for Caesars when Louisiana lawmakers legalize the activity.

Earlier this year a house bill was introduced to allow “additional games and sports betting at eligible live horse racing facilities.”

Although the bill was unsuccessful, in November Louisiana residents voted on a bill to permit daily fantasy sports.

This bill was ultimately successful with 47 of the state’s 64 parishes voting to legalize the activity. If anything this is an indicator that the state could be moving towards legalizing sports betting in 2019.
