Kyle Odegard: Why I’m Creating A Newsletter

I’ll start this with an admission: when I left the Arizona Cardinals for Compare.bet about two years ago, I didn’t know how many people would follow.

My dad has been a loyal reader since my writing career began at a high school wrestling match in the early 2000s, and that was a click I could count on.

But to make this a viable path, a wide swath of Cardinals and NFL fans needed to be interested in my musings — and I am eternally grateful that so many of you have continued to read my work.

The goal now is a more enriching experience for both of us.

The first edition of my newsletter is out, and it will be hitting email inboxes regularly moving forward.

My past work will continue: commentary, analysis, breaking news, interviews, betting insight, odds movement and more.

The newsletter will make it easy one-stop shopping to consume that content, and there will also be extra perks.

  • Exclusive Content: Articles that can only be accessed by newsletter subscribers
  • Giveaways: The chance to win free jerseys, tickets and more
  • Buzz: You’ll get inside info on what I’m hearing about the Cardinals
  • Mailbag: A weekly Q&A with questions from readers
  • Video Chats: Periodic Zoom meet-ups with sports fans or aspiring journalists
  • Bonus Offers: Sports betting promotions for those in the U.S.

Your acceptance of my work has allowed me to land a dream job with a company that has supported my every move.

Many people understandably questioned why I would leave a professional sports organization, but this was a much better fit for me.

On a personal level, it has allowed me to work remotely as my twin daughters grow up, while being employed by a progressive and fast-moving company.

From a professional standpoint, it has allowed me to speak the unvarnished truth — good or bad — while breaking news and filling in fans about some of the inner workings of the organization.

It’s been a thrilling and fulfilling ride thus far, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

My main goal is to make the newsletter a truly collaborative experience with subscribers. Twitter can be unwieldy at times, and I foresee this as a setup that is much more conducive to interaction.

As a token of our appreciation for your subscription, Compare.bet is doing an NFL jersey giveaway on July 7. As long as you are 21 years old and subscribed to the newsletter by that time, you will be eligible to win it (only one entry per person.)

Thank you for all of the support up to this point, and I look forward to plenty of discussion, debate and dialogue moving forward.
