Virgin Games is much more than an online bingo platform. Established by the Richard Branson-owned Virgin Group in 2004, the online casino behemoth has become one of the UK’s industry’s biggest and most popular bingo platforms. Virgin Games is now owned and operated by Gamesys, meaning bingo enthusiasts can benefit from an array of high-quality online bingo options.

Virgin Games also performs brilliantly in other areas, offering its users extensive responsible gambling tools, fast withdrawals and 24/7 customer support. What’s more, new customers enjoy £50 in free bingo when they make an initial deposit of £10, which is one of the most generous bingo welcome bonuses currently available.

Pros and cons

  • Comprehensive Gamesys-powered bingo room library
  • Fantastic online slots and live dealer section
  • One of the best mobile apps on the market
  • Withdrawals can be processed in four hours
  • Not enough ongoing bingo promotions
  • Oriented more towards online casino gameplay

Software

Virgin Games uses the excellent Gamesys bingo software platform, offering players a range of high-quality variants across 13 individual rooms. The provider has built a fantastic reputation over the past several years, going from strength to strength since its 2001 inception with several industry-leading titles.

Gamesys is an EGR Awards multi-award winner (notably winning the 2020 Bingo Operator of the Year) and supplies many of our favourite bingo platforms, including Double Bubble Bingo and Heart Bingo.

Virgin Games also offers a few Gamesys-exclusive online slots like Double Bubble and a Virgin-branded Age of Olympus title. Beyond Gamesys, the operator’s games library is full of slots and live dealer options from Evolution, NetEnt, Big Time Gaming, and other critically-acclaimed software developers.

Bingo Rooms and Variations

Virgin Games customers have 13 real money bingo options to choose from, mainly spanning 90-ball variants. We were happy to find all the vital information for each game on its thumbnail, making it far easier to decide where to buy tickets than it is at a number of other bingo sites. This is an underrated hallmark of Gamesys software, with players able to find the number of players, ticket price, prize, and overall jackpot without pressing any extra buttons.

The Virgin Games collection features fan favourites like Bubble Up Bingo and The Crystal Maze Bingo, contributing to a fairly versatile library that never costs more than 20p per ticket. Customers can also access three free bingo rooms — Play Off Palace Weekly being our preferred option due to its £5,000 jackpot.

Despite the positives, we did have a few minor complaints regarding the Virgin Games bingo selection. While 90-ball bingo options are plentiful, there are limited numbers of alternative variants. Compared to Dragonfish platforms like Moon Bingo this is slightly disappointing, especially considering the lack of any Swedish or 52-ball choices.

However, the potential bingo jackpots at Virgin Games are relatively impressive. Several games have fixed £5,000 prizes, and The Special Cloud Bingo also features a progressive jackpot. Nothing matches the Self-Made Millionaire title at Robin Hood Bingo, but Virgin Games performs well in the jackpot department.

Let’s take a closer look at each bingo title to give you a better idea of what you can enjoy at Virgin Games:

  • Superlinks – A 90-ball bingo variant with Super Jackpots that reach £20,000 on average and £1,500 House Prizes. A notable highlight is that the Super Jackpots are shared 50/50 between the overall winner and all other players. Tickets start from 10p.
  • The Clubhouse – 90-ball bingo with several enticing features, most notably a powerful progressive jackpot. Players can also enjoy “Powerbolts”, tiered jackpots that must be won by 10p every day.
  • Bubble Up Bingo – This 10p-per-ticket, 90-ball game is quickly becoming a favourite at Gamesys and Anzo Group bingo platforms. Highlights include the Double Up Bonus (doubling your potential jackpot) and a Super 7 progressive jackpot.
  • Superlinks 75 – A 75-ball version of the popular Superlinks bingo room with two game modes: one with only Full House wins and the other also including individual line prizes. It’s playable from 10p per ticket and offers a Super Jackpot up to £5,000.
  • Bingo 80 – An 80-ball bingo game inspired by the arcades and technology of the 80s. It’s one of the cheapest Virgin Games offerings, with tickets starting at 1p. There is also a Magic 80 progressive jackpot that only drops with Full House wins on ball 80.
  • The Special Cloud – This is a weekly 90-ball bingo game usually happening on Friday evenings. Players can enter from 2p a ticket and enjoy a guaranteed Full House prize alongside a progressive jackpot.
  • Session Bingo – Session Bingo is an innovative option available four times a day. Players buy a ticket bundle and enjoy a blend of 90, 80, and 75-ball variants.
  • Bingo Times – This summery beach-inspired bingo game offers a progressive jackpot for players who complete a full house in less than 42 calls. Tickets cost 10p per entry.
  • The Crystal Maze Bingo – A Gamesys-exclusive title modelled on the popular The Crystal Maze TV programme. It uses 90-ball rules and costs 5p per ticket, featuring a progressive jackpot that can regularly hit over £5,000.
  • The Suite – If you fancy a more elegant online bingo experience than normal look no further. The Suite runs every five minutes using 90-ball rules with tickets only costing 1p. The game has one of Virgin Games’ highest potential progressive jackpots.
  • Play Off Palace Daily/Weekly – Play Off Palace are free daily and weekly 90-ball bingo games. Look for the PP symbol on the other Virgin Games bingo games for your chance to win free entry tickets.
  • Mega Ball – An online bingo and live dealer hybrid designed by Evolution. Tickets cost 10p, and players can buy up to 200 before each game. Mega Ball is similar to 20-ball bingo with added multipliers and other unique features.

By and large, we’re delighted with the Virgin Games bingo selection. The operator is among the best platforms for 90-ball bingo, but players looking for other variants may need to look elsewhere.

Non-bingo games

Virgin Games blows most competitors out of the water when it comes to non-bingo options. This isn’t surprising, considering the platform is geared more towards online casino gameplay as a whole. The operator has most angles covered whether you’re looking for online slots, poker, live dealer casino games, or instant win scratchcards.

Navigating the collection is straightforward due to the “Slots”, “Jackpots”, “Live Casino”, “Casino”, “Bingo & Instants”, and “Poker” filterable categories. For those looking for more specific options, Virgin Games also has dedicated sections for Jackpot King or Bubble Pots progressive jackpots, as well as Evolution’s Lightning live dealer series.

Online slots are the main attraction at Virgin Games, with a very comprehensive library packed full of quality titles from Big Time Gaming, NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, and more. The operator has several exclusive slots like Anglin’ For Spin and a branded version of Gates of Olympus alongside Big Bass Bonanza, Rainbow Riches, and other industry favourites. We found very little missing here, with the possible exception of Microgaming progressive jackpots, which is the only potential drawback.

Virgin Games also has a seriously impressive live dealer section that goes above and beyond what almost all other bingo platforms can offer. On top of the standard live dealer titles you’d expect to see at any site with a live dealer section, Virgin Games sets itself apart from the likes of Double Bubble Bingo by providing rarer options like Funky Time Live and Snakes & Ladders Live. Players can access 76 live dealer games in total, including Bac Bo Live and other niche choices.

And the Virgin Games portfolio doesn’t stop there either. The operator is one of the industry’s most multi-faceted sites, with a dedicated online poker section rounding off the frankly ridiculous non-bingo games selection. Poker fans can access daily multi-table tournaments and free competitions alongside more unique options like Wild Seat Poker. Very few other bingo operators can offer poker, so this is a huge selling point.

Cashier

Virgin Games doesn’t have the best selection of payment methods, with players only able to fund their accounts with Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay. This is slightly disappointing compared to other sites like Moon Bingo, which offers a much wider range of banking options, including PayPal.

Nevertheless, as long as you can get over this initial stumbling block, the rest of the Virgin Games cashier section performs pretty well. We were really happy to find an option to set a deposit limit while making an initial payment, showcasing the operator’s commitment to responsible gambling. There is also an option to protect your funds. If ticked, Virgin Games will hold your bankroll in a separate bank account in case they go insolvent. This doesn’t seem likely anytime soon, but it’s a nice touch that goes a long way in increasing our confidence in the operator.

Despite the limited withdrawal methods, we were also impressed by the commitment to process payout requests in as fast as four hours. It’s one of the industry’s fastest processing speeds, allowing players to claim withdrawals much quicker than at other sites like Robin Hood Bingo, where processing requests can take up to two days.

Promotions

Head to “The Vault” section of the Virgin Games website or app to find all the available promotions. The operator offers a fairly impressive bingo welcome bonus but lacks ongoing bingo offers, with most promos focussing on the online casino section. This is unfortunate, as it’s one of the only things letting Virgin Games down, especially for bingo players. That said, the welcome offer — which we’ll outline below — is among the best in the business.

Play £10 & Get £50 of Free Bingo

New players can access £50 in free bingo tickets after depositing and playing with £10 on any games in the Virgin Games collection. This is a great way to explore the bingo selection and try out different rooms without spending any actual money, which is a great way to kickstart your Virgin Games experience.

By and large, we’re very impressed with the welcome bonus. It may not be as instantly attractive as the options at places like Moon Bingo (offering a 200% deposit match bonus and 50 free spins), but the Virgin Games offer comes with one vital difference: the absence of any wagering requirements or winning caps. This means that any winnings — no matter how big — will be yours to keep.

App Review

The Virgin Games iOS and Android apps performed incredibly well during our tests. Players enjoy the same clean and well-designed layout as the website, with the configuration only slightly altered to fit smaller screens.

Other user reviews also confirm the Virgin Games app’s quality. It has a brilliant 4.6 out of 5 rating on the App Store after 19,656 reviews, which is one of the best scores we’ve come across. If you’re looking for mobile bingo alongside a superb integrated mobile casino, look no further.

Support

Virgin Games has a fantastic customer support network, starting with its comprehensive FAQ section. If you don’t find the answer to your questions here, there is a 24/7 live chat, email, and telephone support also available. All options performed well during our tests, so we don’t have any worries on this front.

Our Verdict

Virgin Games is an excellent online bingo platform that ticks several boxes. The overall design and aesthetic is superb, especially considering the remarkable breadth of gaming options. Gamesys does a brilliant job with its online bingo software, yet again staking its claim as the industry’s best current provider. Nevertheless, some players may be put off by the relative lack of bingo variants other than 90-ball, with only a handful of alternative formats available.

Virgin Games is definitely more of an online casino platform, but this is certainly not a bad thing. The remarkable array of non-bingo games is better than any other bingo site we’ve seen, giving players a huge amount of choice. The operator could work on its regular bingo promotions and banking methods lineup, but beyond that we struggled to find anything to complain about here. Use our link to register and claim £50 in free bingo after depositing and playing with an initial £10.
