Arsenal Vs Newcastle Match Preview

The battle for Champions League football continues on Sunday when Arsenal welcome Newcastle to the Emirates Stadium for Premier League action (16:30 BST kick-off), live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

One of five fixtures taking place on Sunday, the second-placed Gunners are just one place and two points ahead of the Magpies, who would finish runner-up in the league if they win their remaining two matches.

While a place in Europe’s top competition seems likely for Arsenal, they are still not guaranteed a top-five finish and any slip-ups in their last two fixtures would open the door for the chasing teams to overhaul them.

Tip 1: Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11 with CopyBet

A five-game run without a victory that includes a Champions League semi-final exit to Paris Saint-Germain has put a downer on the end of Arsenal’s season and they will drop out of second should they lose to Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta’s side need to respond and while they may not achieve this with a win, they should be able to contribute to an entertaining clash with over 2.5 goals the pick.

There have been three or more goals in six of the Gunners’ last seven games in all competitions and they have failed to score in just two of their 18 home fixtures in the league.

Newcastle have been shutout in just two of their last 14 away assignments in the top flight, with over 2.5 goals landing in nine of those contests.

Tip 2: Myles Lewis-Skelly to be carded @ 11/4 with CopyBet

These two sides have already played each other three times this season – once in the top flight and twice in the League Cup – and there have been a combined 17 yellows dished out.

Another feisty affair is expected and one player that could end up in the book is Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has been cautioned in his last two appearances against PSG and Liverpool.

Up against the likes of Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak, the 18-year-old England international has made at least one foul in eight of his last 10 outings and it would be no surprise to see the referee take his name down.

Tip 3: Sandro Tonali to score and Newcastle to win @ 18/1 with CopyBet

Arsenal’s form has dropped with no win in their last five matches in all competitions and the last thing they need is a visit from a Newcastle side that have beaten them three times this season.

The Magpies are full of confidence after the 2-0 victory over Chelsea last time out and the fact they could move into second position with a win is an added incentive for Eddie Howe’s side.

Along with a win for Newcastle, add in Italy international Sandro Tonali to get on the scoresheet. The Magpies midfielder did exactly that last time out against the Blues, taking his tally to six in all competitions this season, and he can hit the back of the net again.
