Here we run down all you need to know about the Fifa Club World Cup.
The Fifa Club World Cup is a tournament that begins on Saturday June 14 and runs through until Sunday July 13 and aims to crown the best club team in the world.
There are 32 teams set to take part in the newly-expanded Club World Cup.
Teams come from all over the world but there are more from Europe (12) than anywhere else, while there will be six South American sides. Oceania get just one spot.
The Club World Cup’s expansion means that there will be eight four-team groups, with the top two from each section going through.
From there, teams will battle it out in a knockout competition until the winner is crowned. Knockout ties that are level after 90 minutes will go to extra-time and then penalties but there is no third-placed playoff.
The Club World Cup will be held at 12 stadiums across the United States, with the final set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Yes, Manchester City and Chelsea have both qualified for the Club World Cup based on their performances in the Champions League in recent years, with the Citizens winning it in 2023 and the Blues in 2021.
Chelsea take on Brazilian side Flamengo, Tunisian’s Tunis ES and MLS team Los Angeles FC in their group. Manchester City have been drawn against Italian giants Juventus, Emirati side Al Ain and Moroccans Wydad AC.
There are 12 previous winners of the Club World Cup in its original format. Chelsea and Manchester City have both won it but they are far behind Real Madrid, who have lifted the trophy on five occasions.
Real Madrid, who now have Xabi Alonso in charge, are the favourites to win this year’s Fifa Club World Cup. Los Blancos will also have new signings Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen at their disposal.
Paris Saint-Germain recently lifted the Champions League and are among the favourites as a result of their impressive season, while Manchester City are also well-fancied despite their disappointing trophyless campaign last season.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also towards the front of the betting after winning the Bundesliga and UEFA Conference League respectively last term.
