Nations League Germany Vs Portugal Preview

Germany Vs Portugal Preview

Germany take on Portugal in the Nations League semi-finals at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, with the contest kicking off at 20:00 and being shown live on Amazon Prime.

Die Mannschaft finished top of Group A3, winning four and drawing two of their matches, while Portugal boasted the same record as they ended up first in A1.

Portugal won the inaugural Nations League in 2019, beating the Netherlands 1-0 in the final, while Germany are aiming to lift the trophy for the first time.

Tip 1: Germany to beat Portugal @ 4/5 with bet365

Germany went unbeaten Group A3, collecting 14 points from a section containing the Netherlands, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Julian Nagelsmann’s men scored 18 goals and conceded over four times during the course of those six matches, evidence of the high level they are operating at.

A thrilling quarter-final against Italy then ensued, as the Germans managed to edge into the semi-finals with a 5-4 aggregate victory.

Portugal bossed Croatia, Scotland and Poland in Group A1 before downing Denmark at the last-eight stage, but it’s clear that A Selecao das Quinas have enjoyed a kinder route to the semi-finals and it should be remembered that Roberto Martinez’s men had to turn around a 1-0 deficit against the Danes.

Germany look like a good bet to reach the Nations League final in 90 minutes.

Tip 2: Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11 with bet365

There have been a total of 31 goals in Germany’s eight Nations League matches, with their most recent outing a thrilling draw against Italy.

That encounter against the Italians was the sixth time in Germany’s last eight games that there have been three or more strikes.

Portugal have also been an entertaining side during this Nations League campaign, with a combined 26 goals in their eight contests.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in five of those assignments and another end-to-end affair is expected in Munich.

Tip 3: Florian Wirtz and Francisco Trincao to score at any time @ 12/1 with bet365

Jamal Musiala’s absence should see Florian Wirtz slot in behind the forwards for Germany on Wednesday night and the Leverkusen star can get on the scoresheet.

Wirtz scored three goals in the group stage of the Nations League and the Leverkusen man, who could soon become a Liverpool player, can strike against Portugal.

Portugal forward Francisco Trincao played a starring role in the second leg of the quarter-final against Denmark, bagging a brace in the 5-2 victory.

The 25-year-old Sporting Lisbon forward found the back of the net a couple of games ago in the 1-1 draw against Benfica and he looks capable of notching on Wednesday.
