Premier League Game Week 7 Preview

It’s gameweek seven of the Premier League season and the final piece of action before the top flight pauses for October’s international break. Chelsea’s clash with Liverpool is the highlight of the weekend, while Arsenal host West Ham and Manchester City head for Brentford in two of the other standout fixtures.

Brighton to beat Wolves @ 10-11 with bet365

Brighton have lost only one of their last six in all competitions and that impressive run of form includes excellent Premier League victories over Manchester City and Chelsea. The Seagulls were helped on their way to last weekend’s 3-1 success over the Blues by Trevoh Chalobah’s second-half red card, but Fabian Hurzeler’s side had threatened to get back into the contest prior to the Chalobah’s dismissal and that should not be ignored. Brighton have scored 20 goals in their last six games, and while Wolves put in a spirited display when holding Tottenham to a 1-1 draw last time out, the Seagulls look set to swoop. 

Sunderland to beat Manchester United @ 5/1 with bet365

There are a few candidates for best underdog this weekend, with Brentford and Nottingham Forest worth a shout, but surely Sunderland are too big to ignore at 5/1. The Black Cats have already accumulated 11 Premier League points under Regis Le Bris this term, claiming wins over West Ham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest along the way.

Their latest success came at the City Ground last Saturday and there was a lot to like about that performance. There has been little for Manchester United supporters to get excited about this season as they seemingly continue to go from crisis to crisis. 

The Red Devils were poor when losing 3-1 at Brentford last weekend and the two Premier League victories they have achieved this term come with huge asterisks. Robert Sanchez’ red card played a huge part in Ruben Amorim’s men beating Chelsea, while they needed a last-gasp penalty to see off Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford prior to that. The effort required to beat the promoted Clarets on home turf gives clear indication that Sunderland have hopes of leaving Manchester with all three points.

Early season criticism of Arsenal seems wildly misplaced and the Gunners can fire against West Ham. Mikel Arteta’s men were excellent when beating Newcastle 2-1 at St James’ Park last Sunday and the result was far more comfortable than Gabriel’s late strike suggested.

Arsenal hit 20 shots, 12 corners and created an expected goals total of 2.04 against the Magpies and they could cut loose against a weak West Ham defence. Six of the Gunners’ 20 strikes against Newcastle came from Viktor Gyokeres and the Swedish striker can be backed to bag a hat-trick against the Hammers.
