Wimbledon Mens Final Preview - Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz

Wimbledon Men’s Final Preview – Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz look set to dominate the men’s tennis scene for some time to come and the latest instalment of their fierce rivalry takes place on Sunday, July 13, at 4pm for the Wimbledon men’s singles title.

These two have shared the last six Grand Slam titles between them and served up an absolute classic in their most recent encounter when Alcaraz came from two sets down to win the French Open for the second successive year.

The Spaniard has shown he has little problem making the quick adjustment to grass as he is now going for the three-peat at the All England Club, while Sinner is looking for his first title on the hallowed grass, having won his second Australian Open in January following his US Open success last year.

Tip 1: Carlos Alcaraz to win @ 5/6 with Paddy Power

These two had enjoyed a well-matched start to their rivalry with Sinner holding a 4-3 advantage after their first seven meetings, but Alcaraz has taken a stranglehold more recently and has won the last five head-to-heads, including that epic at Roland Garros at the start of June. Even though Sinner won the pair’s only ever meeting on grass at Wimbledon in 2022, the Spaniard has also become the best player on this surface, losing just one of his subsequent 32 matches in a streak that has seen him crowned Wimbledon champion twice as well as claiming two titles at Queen’s.

Alcaraz is the best player on tour on current form too, losing just one match since the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo – and that was in the final in Barcelona in April. He has collected silverware in Rome, Paris and London along the way. Sinner has looked imperious at times this last fortnight, but enjoyed a huge slice of fortune when Grigor Dimitrov had to retire when two sets up in the fourth round, while the Italian has also been contending with his own injury concerns. Given both his current form and hot streak against the world number one, Alcaraz looks big enough to back to complete a Wimbledon hat-trick as he continually finds ways to win while not necessarily being at his best.

Tip 2: Jannik Sinner over 2.5 double faults @ 1/1 with Sky Bet

Sinner’s statistics are looking pretty impressive but it is worth remembering that none of his matches have gone over three sets, and now he faces the biggest challenge that there is in tennis currently. With his serve expected to come under its greatest pressure, at least three double faults for a usually dependable weapon is well worth considering.

The Italian sent down three in a little over two sets against Dimitrov while that figure was matched in what was a one-sided stroll against Pedro Martinez. With pressure being applied as well as the likelihood of a much longer game against the two-time defending champion, and at least three more looks tempting.

Tip 3: Bet Builder – Carlos Alcaraz to win from behind, Alcaraz to serve more double faults, Jannik Sinner over 2.5 breaks of serve and over 0.5 tie-breaks @ 14/1 with Puntit

Alcaraz has won the last five matches against Sinner but four of those have come after losing the first set, a scenario that could easily play out again on Sunday with the Italian both fresher and desperate to make a fast start.

Sinner’s serve is a little more consistent too, and with Alcaraz having served 27 double faults to the world number one’s 11, the champion can top those charts on Sunday. Alcaraz has also lost his serve 11 times so far, but having faced a whopping 48 break points, Sinner is more likely to capitalise than those who have gone before and could register at least three. And with six tie-breaks in the last 10 sets played between these two, including three in the French Open final, backing at least one in what is expected to be an intensely-fought affair is worth chancing.
