It is a blockbuster Week 13 of the NFL which starts early due to the busy Thanksgiving schedule. There are three games on Thursday, the first of which sees Detroit Lions host Green Bay Packers. Both teams are battling it out for supremacy in a competitive NFC North, with Chicago Bears currently in a shock divisional lead after extending their record to 8-3. The Packers are in close attendance at 7-3-1 while the Lions are also well within touching distance with a 7-4 record. It is a quick turnaround for both teams as they face off at Ford Field in what should be an enthralling encounter which will have a big say on which team wins this division.
Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers Match Betting Preview
Tip 1: Detroit Lions -2.5 @ 10/11
The Lions have won the NFC North for the last two seasons and will be desperate to make it three in a row this time around. They are currently third in the division however after struggling to 3-3 on the road, losing to the Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles on their travels. Detroit have been much better at home, going 4-1, and they should be able to get revenge on the Packers for their Week 1 defeat in this Thanksgiving showdown.
The Packers may have a better record, but they have also had an easier schedule and this is a tough test for Green Bay. Detroit are averaging 34.7 points per game at home since the start of last season, with an 11-3 record to boot, and they may be tough to stop in their own back yard. Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs is dealing with a knee injury while Jahmyr Gibbs is fresh from a career game against New York Giants in which he had 264 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. Green Bay have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last nine matches and may suffer the same fate in this one.
Tip 2: Jahmyr Gibbs over 74.5 rushing yards @ 10/11
Gibbs has been a revelation for the Lions this season and, with their offensive line struggling to protect Jared Goff, he is worth siding with to go over the rushing total once again. The Lions running back is averaging 86.5 rushing yards per game this year and is fresh from his career-high 219 against the Giants. High on confidence, he can repeat the trick.
Tip 3: Amon-Ra St Brown anytime touchdown @ 21/20
Amon-Ra St Brown has been a crucial part of the Lions’ offense this season, racking up nine receiving touchdowns in 11 games. With Lions tight end Sam LaPorta out for the season, expect St Brown to be targeted even more and he can add to his tally of two touchdowns from his last three games.
