New York City FC to face Club Necaxa in Mexico

There will be no weeks off for New York City FC through the end of the regular season. Instead, they will embark on another historic moment for the club.

EoS has learned that NYCFC will travel to Mexico to face Liga MX side, Club Necaxa, in Estadio Victoria on October 7. The match will be broadcast live on YES Network at 9:30 P.M. The match falls in between a September 30 road match against the Houston Dynamo and another road encounter against D.C. United on October 16. Necaxa will also have a week off in observance of the FIFA window.

This will be the first time NYCFC participates in a midseason friendly.

Club Necaxa is currently 12th in the Liga MX table with a 2-2-7 record. This is their first season back in the Mexican first division following a five year absence. The team is led by Chilean tandem Edson Puch and Felipe Gallegos, with Argentine keeper Marcelo Barovero in net.

Fresh off of their historic, first ever playoff qualification, NYCFC currently find themselves tied for first place in the Eastern Conference with Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls at 48 pts. Toronto holds a one game advantage on both New York teams.
