The wait is nearly over for the 2025 NFL season and it will not be long before the 32 teams put it all on the line to try and win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The 16 NFC teams will all look to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winners, the Philadelphia Eagles. Three of the last five Super Bowls have been won by a team from the NFC, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams and Eagles all getting the job done since 2021. Due to their dominance in 2024, the Eagles are favourites to win the title again, but winning back-to-back NFC Championships is never easy. In fact, it has not been done since 2013/14, when the Seattle Seahawks won two titles in a row.

The Eagles are deserving favourites to defend their crown after their sublime campaign in 2024. After ending the regular season with a 14-3 record, the Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders in the play-offs before they hammered the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. 

They had six All-Pros and six Pro Bowlers named in their roster and look to have a great chance to repeat their success. Philadelphia need their rushing attack to stay healthy after dominating in that department last year, but if it does, then they should be right up there.

The 49ers struggled last season due to injuries to key players, mainly running back Christian McCaffrey. He should be back behind quarterback Brock Purdy this season and their offence has the ability to be a top-ten unit in the NFL.

Todd Bowles’ team went 10-7 in the regular season to top the NFC South. They lost in the WildCard Round to the Washington Commanders, despite having beaten NFC powerhouses the Detroit Lions and Eagles in the regular season.

The addition of Emeka Egbuka should give quarterback Baker Mayfield more firepower, while under Bowles, the Bucs’ defence has always been relentless. If the Bucs’ offensive line stays upright and injury-free, their running back room and Mayfield have what it takes to give their fans something to cheer about in 2025. Mayfield threw for 4,500 yards last season and 4,044 in his first year in Tampa, but it was his ball security that let him down in 2024. If he tidies that up, watch out for the Bucs in the next six months.
