Kicking off on July 6, the UEFA Women’s Euros will see 16 teams battle for supremacy in host cities right throughout England. The Netherlands are the defending champions, while Spain are the hotly tipped favourites thanks to superstar players like 2021 Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas. Of course, England’s Lionesses, who made it to the semi-final at the last Women’s Euros, will be looking to go all the way this year. Whatever happens, record-breaking ticket sales mean this will be a landmark moment for women’s football.

The Women’s Euros 2022 commence with a group stage, with the eventual winners and runners-up of each group moving on to the knockout rounds. This is made up of the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final showdown at Wembley Stadium on July 31.

It’s worth noting that, unlike other big competitions such as the Women’s World Cup, there is no third place play-off at the Women’s Euros.

The teams in each group play in a round robin format, with three points awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and zero for a loss. The top two teams from each group will then progress to the knockout stage of the competition.

Team Rankings

Team Rankings for the Women’s Euros 2022

The teams are seeded according to their coefficient ranking which is based on their performances in the last Women’s Euros, the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Euro 2022 qualifiers. By this metric, defending champions, the Netherlands, are the top ranked team, followed by Germany and England.

However, sports bettors may also want to take the current FIFA World Ranking into account. By this measure, the top three teams in the Euros are Sweden, France and Germany. With all this being said, Spain – who are placed seventh on the FIFA list – are widely regarded as the team to beat in this tournament. As we touched on earlier, this is due to the presence of some of the greatest talents in women’s football being on the team.

Betting on the Women’s Euros 2022

Betting on the Women’s Euros 2022

If you’re looking to place bets on the Women’s Euros, you’ll have plenty of online bookies to choose from. Our expert reviewers have handpicked a list of the best betting sites in the UK, only recommending those that are licensed and offer competitive odds across a diverse selection of betting markets.

Speaking of markets, here are some of the most popular types of wagers you’ll be able to place on Women’s Euros matches.

Individual Match Result

Whether you’re backing the Lionesses to beat Austria in the opening match of the Women’s Euros, or have an inkling Norway and Northern Ireland will finish in a draw in their Group A game the following day, this is the betting market you’ll want to head for.

Both Teams to Score

This market does exactly what it says on the tin. Are you feeling confident that both teams will score at least one goal, or do you reckon it’ll be a damp 0-0 squib? Either way, the top UK betting sites will let you make your play.

Over/Under Goals

This popular market allows you to predict whether or not the total goal tally will exceed a certain threshold. You may be able to bet on the tallies for the first and second halves, as well as for the match as a whole.

Group Winner

Anything can happen in the group stage. The top ranking team in the group may well meet expectations and breeze happily into the quarter-finals. Or, there may be an upset, with one of the less fancied teams edging ahead. This market allows you to make your own call.

To Qualify for the Quarter Finals

Betting on the quarter-final qualifiers will be slightly less risky than betting on the group winner, as your team will win whether they head up the group or finish as runners-up.

Euro’s Winner

This is the biggest question of all: which team will be taking home the silverware? Many UK bettors will be backing the Lionesses no matter what, but there are of course 16 options here for you to choose from.

Accumulators

The best Women’s Euros betting sites will let you combine different selections on the same slip, to create an accumulator or ‘acca’. For example, you might want to stack up match results wagers for a number of different group stage games. The odds are multiplied together to give a better return than you’d get if they were individual wagers. However, the risk also increases, as all your selections have to come good for the acca to win.

In-Play Betting

Placing bets after kick off can be one of the most enjoyable ways to wager on football. The odds will fluctuate during the course of the match, which means you can potentially jump on more lucrative selections compared to pre-game options. You’ll have to keep your wits about you, and it’s important not to let the excitement of the moment sway your judgement.

  • Fans of the beautiful game will be in their element at Unibet. Follow our sign-up link, and you’ll get £30 in football free bets if you place a £10+ football wager. Mobile Betting on the Go

Many sports bettors value the freedom to place bets and manage their accounts through their mobile devices. While it’s perfectly possible to sign into the bookmaker’s website through the browser on your phone or tablet, we always recommend downloading the native app if there is one.

Available from Google Play and the App Store, these apps are fully optimised to work on your particular device, meaning you tend to get a smoother, more user friendly experience. You’ll be able to access the markets quickly, without having to fire up the browser every time, and push notifications will keep you automatically updated on the latest promos.

Betting Payment Options for the Women’s Euros 2022

The top Women’s Euros bookmakers will lay out a number of ways to make deposits and withdrawals. Here are some of the most widely supported options.

Debit Cards

Debit cards are accepted at pretty much all sports betting sites in the UK, and you’re almost certain to be eligible for all welcome bonuses when depositing this way. That being said, some bettors may feel reluctant to share their card details online, and withdrawals using debit cards can take between three and five days to process. That’s typically far slower than using e-wallets.

E-wallets

Many bettors prefer using e-wallets because of the extra layer of security it provides. Rather than having to enter any debit card or bank account details, you simply move money to and from your e-wallet account. E-wallet withdrawals are often processed more rapidly than other payout methods, sometimes taking a day or less to arrive. PayPal is still the best-known e-wallet, though the likes of Skrill and Neteller are also supported at many bookies. Just bear in mind that some welcome bonuses cannot be unlocked if you make your first deposit using certain e-wallets.

History

History of Euro Winners

It’s fair to say the history of the UEFA Women’s Euros has been dominated by one colossal presence: Germany. They’ve taken the title eight times, which is incredibly impressive when you consider that the competition only goes back to 1984. Indeed, Germany bagged six consecutive wins from 1995 and 2013. This made it big news when they sensationally crashed out in the quarter-final stage at the 2017 Women’s Euros.

The only other teams ever to have taken home the trophy are Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands. England have made it to the final twice, the last time being in 2009.
