Hollywood Casino is set to launch mobile sports betting in West Virginia in the coming weeks.
This was revealed by Hollywood Casino executive, Erich Zimny, who spoke at a webinar for ICE Sports Betting USA last week.
According to Legal Sports Report, Zimny said: “We expect to launch our mobile app, I don’t have a firm date. It’s not going to be next week, it’s not going to be three to four months from now; we hope to get it up and running in the next few weeks.”
Hollywood Casino was the first to launch sports betting in the state, followed by FanDuel, launching a sportsbook at the Greenbrier Resort.
According to the West Virginia Lottery Commission, in September the two physical sportsbooks handled over $3.4m in wagers.
Although it has been legalized, the future of online sports betting in West Virginia is a bit up in the air as the West Virginia Lottery has yet to announce a launch date for mobile sports betting apps and FanDuel has yet to announce details regarding its mobile sports betting plans for the state.
It was also announced last month that sports betting launches at the Mardi Gras Casino and the Wheeling Island Casino were being delayed.
