College Football Week 9 Preview: Betting Odds & Picks Including Ohio State at Penn State and Kentucky at Tennessee

No. 2 Ohio State at No. 13 Penn State Odds and Picks

Saturday 29th October – 12:00 pm EST

Game Lines:

Moneyline: Ohio State -600 | Penn State +430
Spread: Ohio State -15 – 110
Points Total: 61 Points | Over -110 | Under -110

Sam’s Picks

Moneyline: Ohio State
Spread: Ohio State -15
Over/Under: Under 61

Penn State is a team that lives and dies on how well they run the ball. When things are looking good for Nicholas Singleton, the entire offense becomes more potent and I struggle to see them successfully running it against an Ohio State defense that ranks fourth in success rate against the run in the nation. The fans at Beaver Stadium will make it tough on the Buckeyes, but Ohio State just has too much talent on both sides of the ball and should pull away early, taking the sting out of the atmosphere a bit.

Matt’s Pick of the game:

I really like the Under here. Not because I don’t have faith in Ohio State’s offense, but because I have faith in their defense. I don’t see the Nittany Lions getting much more than 20 points, making the points total a bit too high for me.

Points Total: Under 61 Points

Florida vs. No. 1 Georgia Odds and Picks

Saturday 29th October – 3:30 pm EST – (Jacksonville, Florida)

Game Lines:

Moneyline: Florida +1150 | Georgia -2400
Spread: Georgia -22.5 -110
Points Total: 56.5 Points | Over -110 | Under -110

Sam’s Picks

Moneyline: Georgia
Spread: Florida +22.5
Over/Under: Over 56.5

The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is always one of the best dates on the College Football calendar, and usually throws up a close game between two top teams. Last year the Bulldogs boat raced the Gators 34-7 but it’s a new staff down in Gainesville and they will be hoping to pull a miracle off. I dont see that happening, but the spread of 22.5 points seems a bit high. Florida may be only 1-3 in the SEC but they’ve been in all of those games, and I can see them covering quite easily, especially if Anthony Richardson plays up to his full ability.

Matt’s Pick of the game:

Georgia may have cruised through their schedule so far on their way to a 7-0 start, but alarm bells rang in the Kent State and the Missouri games. While they have looked more like the team that won the National Championship last year in their last two games against Auburn and Vand, the rivalry game aspect makes me think that a 22.5-point spread is too rich, and I expect Florida to keep it closer than that.

Points Spread: Florida +22.5

No. 9 Oklahoma State at No. 22 Kansas State Odds and Picks

Saturday 29th October – 3:30 pm EST

Game Lines:

Moneyline: Oklahoma State +105 | Kansas State -125
Spread: Kansas State -1.5 -110
Points Total: 56 Points | Over -110 | Under -110

Sam’s Picks

Moneyline: Oklahoma State
Spread: Oklahoma State +1.5
Over/Under: Under 56

Oklahoma State is coming off a huge win and has all the momentum in this matchup, considering the Wildcats had a tough loss to TCU last week. The Cowboys ran the Horned Frogs a lot closer than the Wildcats did, and I think their offense will guide them to a big win here.

Matt’s Pick of the game:

This is obviously a massive game for these two teams wanting to stay in touching distance of TCU at the top of the Big 12. Oklahoma State has one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, and their win over Texas was a massive statement, but I’m going with the home favourites to win here, as this is the best defense the Pokes have played all year. Kansas State has a nasty defense that will allow them to control the game and pick up the W. I never really like betting the spread when Vegas has it being so close, so I’m just taking the Wildcats outright.

No. 19 Kentucky at No. 3 Tennessee Odds and Picks

Saturday 29th October – 7:00 pm EST

Game Lines:

Moneyline: Kentucky +345 | Tennessee -455
Spread: Tennessee -12 -110
Points Total: 61 Points | Over -110 | Under -110

Sam’s Picks

Moneyline: Tennessee
Spread: Kentucky +12
Over/Under: Under 61

This Tennessee team is special, and is 7-0 for the first time since 1998 when they went on to win the National Championship. A win in this big rivalry game would cement the Vols as genuine Natty contenders 24 years later, and I fully expect them to do it. The points spread is quite large though, and I can see Kentucky sneaking in at the back door with a late cover. Kentucky is 3-0 against the spread as an underdog this year, proving they can hang in tough games.

Matt’s Pick of the game:

A healthy Will Levis made a huge difference to the Wildcats last week as they beat Mississippi State after they had lost in the previous two weeks. His draft stock has risen throughout the year, and it’s games like this where he needs to shine if he wants to go in the first round. You could say the exact same thing for Hendon Hooker on the other side of the ball, and I like this one being a shootout.

Points Total: Over 61 Points

Michigan State at No. 4 Michigan Odds and Picks

Saturday 29th October – 7:30 pm EST

Game Lines:

Moneyline: Michigan State +1050 | Michigan -2000
Spread: Michigan -23 -110
Points Total: 55 Points | Over -110 | Under -110

Sam’s Picks

Moneyline: Michigan
Spread: Michigan -22
Over/Under: Over 55

This is a massive game for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines. They have lost 10 of the last 14 games played in this matchup, and Harbaugh is yet to beat Mel Tucker since Tucker joined Sparty. Michigan are the better team in every facet, and this will be a game where they will be taking our years of pain on their rivals by beating them up. Michigan State just isn’t good enough to hang with this Michigan team.

Matt’s Pick of the game:

I’m in full agreement with Sam on this one. Sparty is not a great team and Michigan are a very good one. This is Harbaugh’s opportunity to prove he is past the media narrative of blowing big games by blowing out his rivals. The Wolverines should have this one won in the first quarter.

Points Spread: Michigan -22

No. 15 Ole Miss at Texas A&M Odds and Picks

Saturday 22nd October – 7:30 pm EST

Game Lines:

Moneyline: Ole Miss -125 | Texas A&M
Spread: Ole Miss -1.5
Points Total: 55 Points | Over -110 | Under -110

Sam’s Picks

Moneyline: Ole Miss
Spread: Ole Miss -1.5
Over/Under: Under

It’s been tough sledding for Aggies fans in recent weeks, who had so much hope in the offseason after securing the number 1 recruiting class. Ole Miss will be keen to avenge a tough loss in Death Valley last week with a win here, and I expect them to do exactly that, adding to Texas A&M’s woes.

Matt’s Pick of the game:

I’ve spent most of the season dunking on Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies, and yet, maybe stupidly, I’m backing them to win as my underdog pick of the week here. Ole Miss was rattled in the second half in a raucous atmosphere in Baton Rouge last week, and I can see College Station having a similar impact this week. The Aggies need a win badly, and this is a good opportunity to start a tough run at the backend of their season.
