NBA Draft Betting: Scoot Henderson Slight Favorite Over Brandon Miller to Be No. 2 Overall Pick

Victor Wembanyama is being touted as the best NBA prospect since LeBron James, and there is little doubt he goes No. 1 overall to the San Antonio Spurs in next month’s draft.

The No. 2 pick? That’s a bit more complicated.

G League Ignite point guard Scoot Henderson was long seen as the second-best player in the class, but Brandon Miller closed the gap with an impressive freshman season at Alabama.

DraftKings has NBA draft odds listed for each of the top three picks, and has Henderson as the slight favorite to be the No. 2 selection. The sportsbook lists Henderson at -140 odds to go second overall, with Miller not too far behind at +100, as of May 17.

Henderson was the -220 favorite at DraftKings before the draft lottery, but he is now a smaller favorite because the Charlotte Hornets finished with the second pick.

They already have LaMelo Ball running the show and could choose to go with Miller, a wing who may fit in better on the roster. Miller was a +160 underdog at DraftKings to be the second pick on Tuesday and now his odds are listed at +100 to go No. 2, so there is a definite belief either of the players could be chosen.

Here are the current odds to be the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft:

• Ausar Thompson +5000

Miller has the best odds to be the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. The Portland Trail Blazers hold the selection but there is speculation they could deal the pick for a veteran star to pair with Damian Lillard.

If a team does make a deal, it feels pretty likely that the trade would be for either Henderson or Miller, whichever one of them is still available at the selection. However, Overtime Elite guard Amen Thompson could also be in the running to be the third overall pick, as his odds seem to say he’s not a major longshot.

DraftKings does believe it will be one of those three players getting chosen at No. 3, as here are the odds:

• Jarace Walker +2000
• Ausar Thompson +2500

There was significant odds movement in the lead-up to the NFL draft because there was not a consensus No. 1 selection for many months. 

While Wembanyama is that guy atop the draft, there is plenty of speculation that is sure to arise about the Nos. 2 and 3 overall picks.

Will Scoot Henderson go second and Miller third, as expected, or are there curveballs still to come? It’s something to watch as lottery teams look to rebuild their rosters this offseason.
