Iowans will soon be able to bet on sports with DraftKings.

On Thursday, DraftKings announced it had partnered with Wild Rose Entertainment for sports betting in Iowa.

Under the deal, DraftKings will become Wild Rose’s land-based and mobile sports betting partner.

We look forward to fueling fans’ passion and competitive spirit while building on the success we’ve seen in the other states we serve.”

Timmons added: “With DraftKings’ track record in mobile betting, we can reach more fans and customers who love sports.”

A date has yet to be set for the launch of the DraftKings Sportsbook app in Iowa.

Sports betting in Iowa

Sports betting in Iowa is legal and live. Iowa’s Governor Kim Reynolds signed the state’s sports betting bill back in May.

Sports betting in the Hawkeye State went live last week with eight land-based sportsbooks and one mobile app. Iowa as also the first state to launch land-based and mobile sports wagering simultaneously. With just 94 days between the signing of the bill and the launch of sports betting, Iowa’s timeline to launch sports betting was one of the quickest in the US.

Iowa’s betting regulations require bettors to create their accounts in person, this is only temporary. From 1 January 2021, bettors will be able to register remotely from anywhere within the state, eliminating the inconvenience of having to travel to a casino.

Under the state’s sports betting laws, residents and visitors must be at least 21 years of age and physically located within state lines before they can place a bet. Operators in the state are required to use geolocation technology to verify a customer’s location.
