DraftKings Sportsbook to go Live in Indiana Today

Bettors in the Hoosier State will be able to bet online with DraftKings Sportsbook later today.

On Wednesday, DraftKings Sportsbook received last-minute approval from the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) for the next day launch of its online sports betting platform in Indiana.

DraftKings will offer sports betting in Indiana under the license of Ameristar East Chicago after the fantasy sports provider turned sportsbook operator partnered with Penn National Gaming earlier this year.

Now that DraftKings has received approval from the IGC, the sports betting operator will join Rush Street Interactive and French Lick Casino as the first two operators to launch state-wide online sports betting in the Hoosier State.

DraftKings and sports betting

Once DraftKings goes live in Indiana, the company will have expanded into five states that offer legal sports betting.

The sports betting operator first entered the US sports betting market last year, when it became the first online sportsbook to launch a mobile app in the state of New Jersey. DraftKings also operates the land-based sportsbook at Resorts Casino in Atlantic City.

The DraftKings Sportsbook mobile app is also available in West Virginia.

In New York, DraftKings runs land-based sportsbook operations at Del Lago Resort. DraftKings also runs land-based sportsbook operations in Mississippi at the Scarlet Pearl Casino in Biloxi.

Sports betting in Indiana

Indiana became the tenth state to legalize sports betting following the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in 2018.

Governor Eric Holcomb signed HB 1015 into law in May, legalizing land-based and state-wide mobile sports betting. Bettors can sign up for online sportsbook accounts remotely, from anywhere within the state.

On 1 September, Indiana’s sports betting market went live with the Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago, the Hollywood Casino & Hotel Lawrenceburg and Indiana Grand Racing & Casino launching land-based sportsbooks.

At the time of writing, 13 land-based sportsbooks offer sports betting in the Hoosier State.

With the launch of the DraftKings Sportsbook app and Rush Street Interactive’s online sports betting platform, bettors in the Hoosier State will finally have a convenient betting option.
