Smarkets set to enter the US sports betting market

Smarkets is coming to the US.

The London-based sports betting operator Smarkets announced this morning that it will be entering the US sports betting market through a partnership with Full House Resorts.

This news comes a month after Smarkets launched SBK sportsbook in the UK.

What does the deal cover?

Smarkets’ multi-million-dollar, long-term partnership with Full House will allow Smarkets to offer online sports betting in Indiana and Colorado.

Over the weekend, Indiana became the latest state to launch sports betting operations.

The London-based company will offer sports betting in these states via the SBK sportsbook product.

Jason Trost, Smarkets founder & CEO said: “This is a landmark day for Smarkets. As an American myself, I’m thrilled to bring our world-leading technology to Indiana and Colorado, as well as more states across the country.

“I truly believe that an agile company like ours can make a huge impact against some of the bigger players thanks to our superior technology and focus on providing the best prices.”

Bettors in Indiana will be able to download the SBK sportsbook app on iOS and Android devices in late 2019.

Alex Stolyar, Full House Resorts SVP & Chief Development Officer, added: “This is a very exciting time for sports betting in Indiana and Colorado, and we are delighted to partner with Smarkets. The SBK sportsbook platform that Jason and his team have built brings many new innovations to the industry, including a unique social network to heighten the customer experience.”

What is Smarkets?

Smarkets began life as a betting exchange where customers could bet and trade on sports, politics and current affairs.

As a betting exchange, Smarkets allows peer-to-peer betting, where users can set their own odds and bet against each other.

In August, the company launched the SBK sportsbook platform allowing the company to transition from a betting exchange to a fully-fledged sportsbook operator.
