As of October 18th 2023, the favourites to win the league are PSG at 1/4, AS Monaco at 10/1, Marseille at 14/1, and Lille at 33/1.
It’s unsurprising to see PSG as front runners — the Parisian team showcases its international superstars on a weekly basis. Dominating Ligue 1, PSG has won the title eleven times and stands as France’s most successful team. They won the 2022/23 league by just one point and currently sit in third place after eight games, so it may not be such straight sailing this time around.
Leading the table after eight games, Monaco are aiming for their ninth Ligue 1 win. They last claimed the league title in the 2016/17 season and will certainly be looking to better last year’s disappointing sixth place finish.
Marseille won their tenth Ligue 1 title in 2010 however they’ve struggled in the last decade to show any consistent form. They finished second in 2021 which should give the team some hope. Alongside this, their regular Champions League performances give Marseille the experience to potentially pull off some great results.
Lille are one of only two teams outside of PSG to win the league since 2013. Taking their fourth title in 2021, Lille are currently seventh after eight games and will need to get a handle on their erratic performance if they want to replicate previous success.
