NFL Next Team Odds: San Francisco 49ers The New Betting Favorite To Sign Tom Brady

Is Tom Brady headed home to the Bay Area?

A serious elbow injury to Brock Purdy has shifted the star quarterback’s next team odds, as the San Francisco 49ers are the new favorite to land Brady in 2023.

The 45-year-old impending free agent has +150 odds to play for the 49ers this year after three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 49ers had +500 odds to add Brady before news of Purdy’s injury was revealed, which was the third most-likely destination at the time.

The Las Vegas Raiders are still very much in play, as are the Buccaneers. This feels like a three-team race, according to DraftKings’ next team odds on January 31:

  • 49ers +150
  • Raiders +175
  • Buccaneers +250

Purdy reportedly suffered a torn UCL when his elbow was hit by Haason Reddick in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. It was widely assumed Purdy would be the starter for San Francisco next season, but the six-month rehabilitation would keep him out of offseason work and allow for more unknowns.

Trey Lance remains on the roster, though the former No. 3 overall pick has yet to seize the starting job.

Brady has been coy about his plans for 2023, although it seems unlikely he retires. Brady is a native of San Mateo, California, and has been linked to the 49ers for years.

San Francisco was one of the best teams in the NFL this season and will return one of the most talented rosters in the league next year. With Super Bowl aspirations, the team needs steady quarterback play, and Brady would seemingly be a good fit.

The Raiders are expected to move on from Derek Carr this offseason, which is why they remain so high on the list. The Buccaneers’ roster could remain mostly intact next season if they choose to run it back, though Brady could be leaning toward leaving.

Here are Tom Brady’s next team odds for the rest of the NFL if he doesn’t end up with the 49ers, Raiders or Buccaneers in 2023:

  • Dolphins +750
  • Patriots +1200
  • Titans +1400
  • Jets +1600
  • Panthers +2000
