Esports Entertainment Group has partnered with the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles.
Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) has partnered with the National Football League’s (NFL) Philadelphia Eagles, becoming the first esports tournament provider to partner with an NFL team.
What’s covered in the deal?
Under the multi-year agreement, the Philadelphia Eagles will become a shareholder of EEG, which is an online gambling operator and an esports tournament provider.
EEG will operate bi-annual Madden NFL esports tournaments for the Eagles using Esports Gaming League. This comes after the EEG announced plans to acquire Esports Gaming League in August of this year.
On Tuesday, EEG announced it would complete its acquisition of the league in January 2021 after finalising the agreement with the tournament organiser.
Catherine Carlson, Senior Vice President, Revenue and Strategy for the Philadelphia Eagles said: “This innovative partnership with Esports Entertainment Group presents a wonderful opportunity for us to expand our reach in a growing market and create new experiences for Eagles fans.
“Esports Entertainment Group has always been a progressive leader in the esports space and has been ahead of the curve in terms of how its interactive platform brings together gaming enthusiasts from all around the world. We look forward to debuting a number of exciting projects through this partnership, including the launch of the highly anticipated Madden tournament series on the Esports Gaming League platform.”
EEG will also use player imagery within the local market and work with players to create custom videos that promote the esports tournaments. These videos will be featured in the Eagles’ marketing and it is said that the tournament segment forms a key part of its three-pillar growth strategy.
Grant Johnson, CEO of EEG said: “We are thrilled to partner with the Philadelphia Eagles as they introduce their fans to the world of competitive esports gaming. The Eagles join a growing list of high-profile organizations that have chosen Esports Entertainment Group as their esports tournament provider, affording us an incredible opportunity to expand our brand reach within multiple large, dedicated fan bases and setting the stage for significant growth ahead. We intend to build on this momentum.”
Esports Entertainment Group in the US
This marks Esports Entertainment’s latest effort to expand its footprint in the US betting space.
In August, EEG secured entry into the New Jersey sports betting market after entering a multi-year partnership with Twin River Worldwide Holdings.
The esports betting operator plans to launch a proprietary mobile app in the Garden State under the licence of Bally’s Atlantic City, which will allow customers in New Jersey to place real-money bets on a variety of esports events.
