The figures for Pennsylvania’s first month of legal sports betting have been released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
The figures cover the first two weeks of sports betting at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course which launched sports betting in the middle of a historic blizzard last month.
The figures show that more than $1.4m was wagered on sports at the Hollywood Casino. In terms of revenue sports betting operations generated $508,996.
Sports betting operations generated a total of $183,238 in tax revenue. Out of this revenue, $173,058 will be allocated to the state, while $10,179 will be allocated to the local share assessment.
Pennsylvania has one of the highest tax rates for sports betting in the nation with a tax rate of 36% on gross revenue.
The PGCB will include the sports betting figures for the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh and SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia in next month’s report.
Parx Casino will join these three casinos when it launches sports betting operations sometime next year.
