On Friday, MGM Resorts International announced that it has entered a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox.
This partnership marks the first-ever team sponsorship deal between an MLB team and a casino and sportsbook operator. In November 2018, MGM became an official MLB gaming partner.
Under the partnership, MGM will become the “official and exclusive resort casino of the Boston Red Sox.”
Red Sox President and CEO, Sam Kennedy, said: “This is such a natural partnership for our two brands. MGM has set the standard in the hospitality and entertainment industry and their recent expansion into the Commonwealth makes them a clear partner.
“We are thrilled to welcome them to the Red Sox family and look forward to a long collaboration.”
As an official partner of the Red Sox, MGM will have promotional material displayed behind the home plate, on Red Sox radio and on other team-controlled media outlets.
MGM will also be able to offer exclusive gameday VIP fan experiences at Fenway Park. On top of this, MGM Springfield will host promotional experiences throughout the year such as the Red Sox’ annual Baseball Winter Weekend event.
The partnership does not explicitly mention sports betting.

As well as being an official MLB gaming partner, MGM has partnered with several sports leagues including the NHL and NBA.
This news comes days after Major League Soccer’s New York City FC entered a partnership with Mohegan Sun.
