NBA and NFL legends join BetRivers as brand ambassadors

Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers sports betting brand has signed two sporting legends as brand ambassadors.

Rush Street Interactive’s (RSI) BetRivers brand has found two new brand ambassadors in the former National Football League (NFL) player Jerome Bettis and the National Basketball Association (NBA) coach George Karl.

Two new brand ambassadors

Both Karl and Bettis will be featured in the sports betting brands’ “Bet With  Winner” marketing campaign in the US and become exclusive endorsers of the gambling brand.

As brand ambassadors both sporting legends will take part in promotions and events on BetRivers’ platforms which include digital and traditional media as well as social channels.

The former NFL star Bettis recorded more than 13,600 rushing yards, made 91 rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns in his professional career.

Speaking on Bettis partnering with the operator, Richard Schwartz, President of RSI, said: “No matter where he was, growing up in Detroit, playing at Notre Dame, or during his iconic career in Pittsburgh, Jerome Bettis made a positive impact on and off the field. We are thrilled for Jerome to bring his authenticity and winning ways to the passionate sports bettors on BetRivers.com.”

Meanwhile, Karl played for the New York Nicks before moving to coaching in 1978 at which point he became the assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs.

Karl has coached several teams over his career and was named NBA Coach of the Year for the 2012-13 season after the Denver Nuggets reached the play-offs.

Schwarz said: “We are thrilled to partner with one of the greatest coaches in NBA history; someone who has deep roots and a strong passion for the game. George Karl was successful at every level of the sport, and we’re excited for him to bring his enthusiasm and knowledge to the sports betting arena here at BetRivers.com.”

RSI goes public

This comes after the operator’s parent company RSI went public on the New York Stock Exchange after completing a deal with dMY Technology.

On 30 December, the Special Purpose Acquisition Company dMY Technology Group completed its combination with RSI after the deal was first announced in July 2020

The transaction raised approximately $230m in cash proceeds held in trust by dMY and approximately $160m from a private investment in public equity, led by Fidelity Management and Research Company at $10.00 per share of dMY common stock.

After payments were made to redeem equity from existing Rush Street equity holders, transaction fees and expenses were paid, the new business entity holds over $240m in cash.

The funds will be used to help accelerate growth in the US and other international markets.
