GVC creates US foundation for responsible gambling

A new responsible gambling foundation has arrived in the US.

Earlier this week, GVC Holdings launched a US-facing foundation for responsible gambling.

The formation of GVC’s US Foundation comes just days after GVC launched its Global Foundation at the end of September.

The US Foundation

GVC’s new US Foundation will oversee responsible gambling, corporate compliance, and the integrity of sporting events in the US. The Foundation will also oversee two corporate social responsibility initiatives in the market.

The Foundation will also be responsible for managing GVC’s existing US projects, including its existing partnerships with the National Centre for Responsible Gaming and Harvard Medical School.

Martin Lycka, director of regulatory affairs at GVC Holdings, said: “This new US Foundation extends our Global Foundation. The range of new initiatives and quality of partnerships express our global commitment to corporate social responsibility.”

GVC is also set to work with Seton Hall Law School in New Jersey to create the first training program for US online gambling and hospitality. This initiative will also be supported by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG).

Kathleen M. Boozang, Dean of Seton Hall Law said: “We are excited about the opportunity presented by this collaboration with GVC Foundation to provide high-quality gaming integrity programming.”

GVC in the US

Following the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in 2018, GVC Holdings has been working to expand its US footprint.

In July 2018, GVC and MGM Resorts International entered into a joint venture to create a sports betting and interactive gambling platform in the US space.

In October 2018, MGM and GVC reached an agreement with the United Auburn Indian Community in California for future sports betting operations once the state authorizes sports betting.

MGM GVC International also struck an exclusive partnership with Sportradar, which will see the company become MGM and GVC’s exclusive sports betting data supplier.

More recently, on September 30, GVC Holdings launched its Global Foundation, which will focus on responsible gambling, sports integrity, gambling regulation research and education around the world.
